Tea Tourism in Assam is a relatively a new concept , although some of the Tea Estates in Assam are trying hard to gain the pace and have successfully developed some of the most amazing bungalows for the tea connoisseurs from across the globe. Thanks to the lush green beauty of the tea gardens which helps the tea travelers to capture memories of a lifetime.

CHAMELI MEMSAAB BUNGALOW
ChemeliMemsaab Bungalow is located in Jorhat District of Assam at The Cinnamora Tea Estate . The first Indian commercial tea planter ,Maniram Dewan started his journey from this tea estate. It was established between the year 1943-45. It was later owned by the Assam Tea Corporation Limited. Maniram Dewan served as The Chief Executive at India’s first tea company ,The Assam Company ,which he later on resigned following rift with the Britishers.In 1858, Dewan was executed for his role in the freedom struggle. Today the ChemeliMemsaab Bungalow is a heritage bungalow , and people come here to enjoy a stay in the lap of nature . The Tocklai Tea Research Association is situated half a kilometer from here.
It has been a hot favourite for Japanese , Korean and American Tourists. The Bungalow derived its name from a film named “ChemeliMemsaab” which was shot in this bungalow in 1975.Apart from the warm hospitality, narratives and organic food ,guests here also get to spend an evening at the Jorhat Gymkhana Club, or play golf with the planters.


PURONIBHETI TEA BUNGALOW
PuroniBheti is a delightful guest house tucked away into a tea plantation, just a 20-minute drive from Jorhat airport. MANCOTTA HERITAGE CHANG BUNGALOW:
Located on the edge of a tea estate, Mancotta Chang is a 157-year-old bungalow situated just outside the town of Dibrugarh. The bungalow, owned by Manoj and Vineeta Jalan , was built by the British, offers visitors a taste of a bygone era of the British Raj. It has a rather nostalgic setting with all six rooms named after the famous tributaries of the Brahmaputra. The rooms are spacious and come with dressing area, a bathroom-toilet (western style), two large sunrooms, a sitting room, dining room and a balcony. A tip: ask for the master bedroom on the first floor, it is simply breathtaking. In the evenings, visitors can sip the famous Assamese tea as they watch the sun go down.As a retreat, Mancotta Chang is perfect for those looking to explore the heritage and culture of Assam. For instance, the bungalow is built in true Assamese style and raised on stilts. Why stilts? Because that it makes it easier to mount your elephant - the traditional and perhaps most efficient mode of transport here. What else? Visitors can go exploring the nearby tea gardens and villages, where they can interact with the locals, and experience an India of a bygone era.The place does offer some basic amenities like laundry, shoe shining, and a complimentary newspaper. The cuisine which varies from Indian to Continental to Oriental is simple but flavourful.
